Lucknow: Senior Samajwadi Party leader and Parliamentary Affairs minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government Azam Khan may quit the party ahead of Uttar Prdaesh Assembly Elections 2017.

There are reports that Azam Khan was unhappy with Amar Singh’s induction in Samajwadi Party and would quit the party to join Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

According to a Urdu daily Roznama Inquilab, Azam Khan is extremely frustrated with Amar Singh’s entry into SP and may join hand with Asaduddin Owaisi. The report claims that disgruntled Khan sent his resignation letter from all party posts and ministries expressing his displeasure over Amar Singh’s nomination, but Mulayam Singh Yadav refused to accept it.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi who has been trying to establish his party in UP may get a huge success in the state as disgruntled SP leader Azam Khan may join hands with him.

Shahi imam, Ahmad Bukhari is also ready to forget all past differences with Khan and can join AIMIM if Owaisi and Khan come together. Bukhari is currently unhappy with SP as no Muslim was nominated for Rajya Sabha from Mulayam’s party.

If Khan joins hand with Owaisi, it would be major setback for all secular parties including SP and Congress who are eyeing on Muslim vote bank.
