Black Day – AIMIM Calls ‘Hyderabad Bandh’ on 23rd Anniversary of Babri Masjid Demolition

HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi called ‘Hyderabad Bandh’ to mark the 23rd anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition. Meanwhile, elaborated security arrangements have been made by the city police to ensure peace, with various political parties and religious groups announcing a string of protest programmes.

Owaisi criticised the 2010 trifurcation judgement of the Allahabad high court and said that Muslims would not accept ‘charity’ because they were rightful claimants of the demolished mosque. “We want every inch of that space and there will be no compromise on this. We will not give up till the mosque is reconstructed and will not let communal forces be at peace. We will continue our democratic struggle without taking the law into our hands,” he thundered.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) V. Satyhanarayana said, “Many political parties will come. We have deployed 1,500 policemen in sensitive and vulnerable areas to avoid untoward incidents, we have already taken into custody 150 rowdies and severely warned them as they are continuously involved in communal issues. By and large it is quiet and peaceful. We are ready to neutralize any situation,” he added. Police also clamped prohibitory orders in Hyderabad under section 144 of CrPC.
