BJP MLA T Raja Singh Arrested over ‘Beef Festival’ row At Osmania University
Hyderabad: BJP MLA T Raja Singh, who was opposing the controversial ‘beef festival’ in Osmania University campus, was arrested in Hyderabad. Eight organisers and 16 other students were also detained, police said.
BJP MLA from Goshamahal T Raja Singh was arrested for allegedly saying that he will kill or will get people killed who try to oppose the beef festival.
“We don’t want an incident like Dadri here, but I am willing to kill or be killed to protect cows. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot stop me from preventing this beef festival. I don’t care what the party says. People have a right to choose what they want to eat but it should not hurt anyone’s religious sentiments,” Singh said.
A ‘curfew-like’ situation prevailed on the campus with heavy police security being deployed to prevent any untoward incident. On the University premises, police imposed restrictions on movement of people and vehicles. Barricades were put up at all the vantage points of the institution and heavy police security was deployed. Police did not allow even regular morning walkers in the university today.
